Clarkstown North Tennis Brings Flawless Season to a Close

Rams faced tough competition when they played Suffern Tuesday, but rose up to the occasion with a 7-0 victory.

The top-seated Clarkstown North Rams were excited and focused for their game against Suffern  Tuesday.  They were looking to extend a flawless season and that's exactly what they did, making it 14-0.

 The Rams knew they were up against a tough team, however, they rose to the occasion with a masterful performance all around.

For first singles, Bart Czarnik had a difficult first set against his opponent Alex Clion.  After some back and forth games with a series of tough volleys, Czarnik won the set, 6-4.  He then went on to win his second set with a commanding 6-0 performance.

Grant Germano played second singles against Suffern's Jason Weinberg.  Though a tough competition, Germano beat out Weinberg 6-3, 6-2.  Jonathan Patarkatsi had less difficulty than his teammates in defeating Suffern's Jeff Schwartz.  He controlled the match throughout, beating Schwartz, 6-2, 6-0.

Josh Raines and Apurva Parikh matched up against Suffern's Nihet Subhedhara and Chad Weinstein in first doubles.  The pair dominated the match, winning it 6-2, 6-1.  Clarkstown North's Matt Danziger and Jared Kash followed suit against Zach Karn and Harris Apfellaum as they won their match, 6-2, 6-1.

Third doubles Spencer Pilavin and Neil Ramaswamy's match against Peng Chung and James Liu did not go as smoothly as their teammates.  Both pairs played an exciting first set.  With volley after hard-fought volley, which were won by well-placed shots on both sides, the set got more competitive.  Finally, Pilavin and Ramaswamy were able to secure the set, 6-7.  Overall, they maintained control of the second set to win the match, 6-3.

Theo Nastese and Jon Zucker matched up against Suffern's Jared Roth and Chris Guttman for fourth doubles.  Despite a good effort from Roth and Guttman, the pair from Clarkstown demonstrated superior skill and teamwork as they won the match, 6-2, 6-0.

The Ram's sweep of the meet secured their flawless season and title for number one  in their division.  Coach Schwartz had nothing but praise for his team after the meet. 

"They were amped up to play this team and they all had a great performance today," the coach said.  The hard work and dedication this season for the Rams was evident, and the result was the best they could have hoped for.

Though the team's regular season is over, the players still have the individual championship tournament to look forward to.
