Clarkstown Police End 3-hour Standoff in Congers

The man had threatened to harm his mother or himself.

On Oct. 8 shortly after 11:00 AM, the Clarkstown Police Department received reports that a 32-year-old man made threats to harm himself and/or his mother.

Police responded to the residence on Ohio Avenue in Congers and attempted to make contact with him.

All attempts to contact him were unsuccessful.

The man barricaded himself inside his home and refused to exit.

Shortly after 2 PM, police entered the residence and the man was taken into protective custody. He was transported to Nyack Hospital for an evaluation. No injuries were sustained.
