Clarkstown School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

NEW CITY, NY — The first day of school in New City is Sept. 6. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Clarkstown School District has released its 2017-18 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

September

• 9/6: First Day of School
• 9/21-9/22: Rosh Hashanah (No school)

October

• 10/9: Columbus Day (No school)
• 10/25: Early release day

November

• 11/7: Election Day, Parent Teacher Conferences (No school for students)
• 11/10: Veteran’s Day Observed (No school)
• 11/23-11/24: Thanksgiving Recess (No school)

December

• 12/25-12/29: Holiday Recess (No school)

January

• 1/1: New Year's Day (No school)
• 1/15: Martin Luther King Day (No school)
• 1/31 Early release day

February

• 2/5 Conference Day
• 2/19-23 Midwinter recess (no school)

March

• 3/9: Conference Day (No school for students)
• 3/21 Early Release Day
• 3/30: Spring Recess begins

April

• 4/2-6: Spring Recess (No school)

May

• 5/28: Memorial Day Recess (No school)

June

• 6/19-22 K-5 half-days
• 6/22: Last Day of School

Snow Day Schedule

Adverse weather condition days: Four adverse weather condition days are built into the
school calendar in the event that schools must be closed for a bad weather. If closings
exceed four days before Spring and Winter Recess, then Friday, April 6, Thursday, April 5,
Wednesday, April 4, Tuesday, April 3 , Friday, February 23, Thursday, February 22,
Wednesday, February 21, and Tuesday, February 20, will be used in that order, as school
days.
