College Coaches To Lead Clarkstown Stars Showcase Baseball Team

Travel baseball program's inaugural showcase team set to play in four tournaments.

The Clarkstown Stars say that area college coaches Michael Nassisi and Chad Duesler will lead the organization's inaugural showcase team for the 2011 summer baseball season. 

The 16u team for the Clarkstown Stars will be competing in four tournaments in the northeast.  The team will be playing at the Penn Open Wood Bat Championship in Bellefonte, PA, Pastimes Tournament at Temple University, Triple Crown Baseball Championships in Richmond, VA, and the Blue Chips Prospects at Diamond Nation in Flemington, NJ.

Each tournament has a selection of representation from more than 40 colleges and also will contain major league scouts in attendance.  The Triple Crown Championship’s All Star game will be broadcasted live on the CBS Sport Network.

The team consists of high school players from Clarkstown South, North Rockland, Don Bosco and St. Joseph. Many of these players have been playing together for more than four years within the Clarkstown Stars organization, with some whom have started out in the junior ranks as early as 7u.

Stars 16u Head Coach Nassisi is also the assistant head coach for the Nyack College men’s baseball team.  Assistant Coach Duesler is also the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator for the Dominican College men’s baseball team.

The Clarkstown Stars travel baseball program started in 1997.  The juniors program consist of players from 7 to 12 years of age and the seniors program consists of players from 13 years and older.  Over the past 13 years, the Stars organization has won numerous tournaments within the Northeast.
