Condo Facade Collapse Cuts Gas, Electricity to 8 Units

Clarkstown police were called to the Spring Valley complex Tuesday night.

Part of a brick facade collapsed at Mountain View Condominiums in Spring Valley Tuesday night, damaging a gas line and eight electric meters.

The damaged area was approximately 15 feet high by 4 feet wide, police said.

Clarkstown Police were called at about 9:10 p.m. Sept. 29.

The falling brick had damaged a gas line which was connected to a generator, in addition to damaging eight(8) electric meters. And as a result of the damage to the gas line, 16 units were to be without gas for the evening, and eight units were to be without both gas and electric power.

The Clarkstown Building Inspector deemed building safe for habitation and residents were provided the option of staying in their homes or going elsewhere for the night.

Orange and Rockland responded to repair both the gas line and electrical boxes.

No injuries were reported.
