Cops Rammed During Stolen-Car Chase: Clarkstown PD

A New Jersey man is under arrest. Police are still looking for one of the occupants of the truck.

BLAUVELT, NY — The driver of a pickup truck reported stolen Monday crashed it into two Clarkstown police cars that had boxed it in in Blauvelt. One of the two people who then ran away now faces charges in Clarkstown town court.

Clarkstown police said the black Ford F-350 pickup truck with Maryland registration, which had been reported stolen, was seen near Western Highway and Shorn Drive.

Officers tried to stop the car. The driver attempted to flee by ramming two Clarkstown police vehicles that had boxed him in. No one was injured, police said.

Two people then jumped out and ran away.

Police said the driver, whom they identified as Juan Colon, 62, of Newark, New Jersey, was caught and arrested shortly thereafter and transported to Clarkstown Police HQ for arraignment, police said.

Colon faces charges of Assault 2nd (Felony), Criminal Possession Stolen Property (Felony), Criminal Mischief 2nd (Felony).

A search for the second person was conducted by various units from Clarkstown, Orangetown and the Rockland County Sheriff's Department. Also assisting in the search was the Clarkstown Police UAV (drone) Unit.
