Victims In Deadly I-87 Mini Cooper, Honda Odyssey Crash ID'd By NYSP

The Honda was stopped on the center shoulder, over the white line, and partially in the travel lane, when it was hit, police said.

VILLAGE OF HILLBURN, NY — Authorities have identified the victims of a fatal crash in Rockland County.

The New York State Police say that on Sunday, around 1:19 a.m., troopers from the Tarrytown Thruway barracks responded to the northbound I-287 ramp leading to the I-87 northbound/southbound split, in the Village of Hillburn, after receiving a report of a two-vehicle collision.

Investigators said a 2020 Honda Odyssey had been heading from I-287 to I-87, when it stopped on the center shoulder, over the white fog line, and partially in the travel lane.mA 2015 Mini Cooper, that was traveling in the same direction, then struck the back of the Honda.

The driver of the Mini Cooper, identified as 64-year-old Guido R. De Castro, of Hewitt, New Jersey, was removed from the vehicle and taken to Good Samaritan Hospital. State police say that despite live-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver of the Honda Odyssey, identified as 40-year-old Orquidea D. Peña Henriguez, of Hackensack, New Jersey, and a 13-year-old passenger had non-life-threatening injuries and were also taken to Good Samaritan Hospital.
