New City, NY (March 25, 2014) - Rockland County Legislator Harriet Cornell, Chair of the Environmental Committee has scheduled a lengthy agenda on several urgent topics for the Wednesday, March 26th, meeting of the committee.

Topics of discussion include: an update on the status of United Water’s Surcharge Case that is pending before the Public Service Commission and a Report from the Rockland County Deer Management Committee. Votes will be taken on resolutions concerning rail transport of crude oil through Rockland County; opposition to construction by LG Electronics of an eight-story building along the New Jersey portion of the Palisades, adjacent to the Palisade Interstate Park; and calling on the State Legislature to prohibit the manufacture, distribution and sale of personal cosmetic products that contain microbeads, a plastic product that is harmful to the environment.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the legislature’s chambers in the Rockland County Office Building, 11 New Hempstead Rd., New City, NY.
