Daily Sports Digest: Majors All-Stars Split Thursday Games

The New City Little League American and National Majors Division All-Star teams both competed last night, but only one advanced deeper into the tournament.

American will move on in the loser’s bracket thanks to a 6-2 win against East Ramapo at Veterans Park in Stony Point last night. American will face Haverstraw tonight at Creston Field in South Orangetown.

National’s run in the tournament ended last night with a 13-0 loss to Pearl River. It’s National’s second loss of the tournament after dropping to Suffern, 17-5, in the opening round.

  • Both New City Little League 10-11 All-Stars will open the District 18 tournament on Saturday. New City American will play Congers at 6 p.m. at Anderson Fields in Pearl River, whiel National will face West Nyack at 8 p.m. at Cesca Field in West Nyack. If American wins, it’ll face Ramapo Sunday, and if National wins, it’ll face South Orangetown on Sunday.
  • The New City Little League Junior All-Stars will looks to stay alive in the District 18 tournament tomorrow against South Orangetown at 10 a.m. at Veterans Park in Stony Point. Earlier in the week, New City lost to Haverstraw.
