Junior Sean Lawrence of Monroe Township, NJ, fired a two-day total of 152 to lead the Nyack College golf team to a sixth-place finish at the eighth Peter King Memorial Tournament at National Golf Club in Riverhead.
Lawrence was steady with rounds of 76-76 as the Warriors posted a team score of 392, which represents the lowest tournament round in the program’s history.
Freshmen Andres Aranguren of Madrid, Spain, and Matt Yun of Flushing led the second-day team scoring with 70 and 72, respectively, against a premier field from 18 colleges and universities.
Nyack also received a key contribution from senior Zhao Yang of Bayside, with a 75.
The Warriors now set their collective sights on the three-day Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CAAC) championships that begin on April 9 at Lafayette Hill, PA.

Game: Clarkstown North vs. Tappan Zee
Score: Tappan Zee Won 13-3
Highlights: Bryan Wenke led the way for Tappan Zee with three goals and two assists in the win. North’s Ricky Straniere had two goals in the loss.

In baseball, Albertus Magnus will host Rye Neck at Pecks Pond at 2 p.m.
In girls lacrosse, Albertus Magnus heads to Clarkstown South at 3 p.m.
In baseball, Clarkstown South heads to Nyack at 4:15 p.m.
In girls lacrosse, White Plains heads to Clarkstown North at 4 p.m.
In softball, Tappan Zee will head to Clarkstown North at 4 p.m.
In boys lacrosse, Clarkstown South will host Edgemont at 5:15 p.m.
College Sports Notebook:
Mortarboard musings
- Sarah Quigley of New City is tied for second on the team in scoring on the Lycoming College women’s lacrosse team. Quigley, an alumna of Clarkstown South, has 18 points on 11 goals and seven assists for the Warriors (3-6), who are at Elizabethtown College (6-3) in Pennsylvania today at 4 p.m. The Warriors are scheduled to meet Lebanon Valley College on April 11 at the Shangraw Sports Complex in Annville, PA.
- Iona College announced yesterday that junior Dylan Newman was named the MAAC Golfer of the Month. Newman is from New Rochelle and in the opening event of the season he finished in a second place tie at the La Salle invitational.
- KC Jentzen of Pearl River received honorable mention status for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CAAC) women’s lacrosse player of the week. Philadelphia University’s Emily Ray of Bedminster won the top honor.
- Dominican College junior Delaney Childers of Johnstown, OH, has been honored as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Player of the Week, her third such honor this season.
