The Top Spot:
This year the 24th annual Pearl River Golf Invitational was played at Blue Hill Golf Course in Orangetown. The five teams took on nine holes and the tournament was a par 36.

Tappan Zee took the team crown with a 205 as Pearl River finished in second with a 229 and Nanuet edged out Nyack and Albertus Magnus for the bronze with a 241.
Tyler Sayre of Albertus Magnus shot a 44 and finished ninth overall for the Falcons.
Tappan Zee’s Angela Tocco won the event over teammate Luke Grennan on the second hole of a playoff. Both golfers shot a 40.

Sport: Baseball
Game: Clarkstown North vs. Nanuet
Score: Clarkstown North Won 14-2
Highlights: Kyle Unger picked up the win for the Rams as he picked up three strike outs in four innings of work. Jacob Fishkin did the majority of the offensive damage as he went 4-4 including two home runs and a double. Fishkin also scored four times and collected four RBI in the win.
Sport: Boys Lacrosse
Game: Middletown vs. Clarkstown North
Score: Middletown Won 12-8
Highlights: Middletown’s Noah Atkinson scored five times in the win as teammate Damien Colon scored four goals and assisted on three others. Anthony Termine led the Rams with four goals and an assist in the loss.
Sport: Softball
Game: Eastchester vs. Clarkstown North
Score: Eastchester Won 16-1
Highlights: Anna Crowley pitched a five inning complete game for Eastchester, the winning pitcher collected 11 strikeouts and only allowed three hits. Offensively Crowley was 4-5 with a home run, two doubles, two RBI, and three runs. Kristin Martin and Tori Milano each had three RBI in the win.

Game: Our Lady of Lourdes vs. Albertus Magnus
Score: Lourdes Won 8-2

In baseball, Suffern heads to Clarkstown North at 3 p.m.
In softball, Clarkstown South heads to Mamaroneck at 11 a.m.
In softball, Albertus Magnus heads to North Rockland at 4 p.m.
Free Golf Clinic:
Rockland Lake’s golf pros will be hosting a Saturday April 14 at 1 p.m. This is open to all Clarkstown residents and will be held on the North driving range.
College Sports Notebook:
Chargers looks to bounce back
The Dominican College women’s lacrosse team hopes to bounce back on Saturday after suffering a heartbreaking triple overtime sudden-death loss to the visiting Tigers of Holy Family University, 16-15.
Dominican, which fell to 3-7 overall and 3-4 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play, will welcome Chestnut Hill College of Philadelphia to Orangeburg on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
The Chargers forged a late tie against Holy Family as sophomore KC Jentzen of Pearl River scored unassisted, and freshman attack Allison Smithwick of Commack converted a pass from senior Aubree Williams of Great Meadows, NJ, with 16 seconds remaining.
In the first overtime, Dominican scored both goals as Traci-Joan Muniz of Middlesex, NJ, scored unassisted and freshman Gina Sparaco of Freeport converted a pass from Williams.
Williams and Jentzen each scored four goals while goalie Veronica Iozzi of Chester, NJ, made 16 saves in 68:40 of action.
Mercy splits on diamond
Junior right fielder Andrew Bock of Malverne had a clutch game-winning single as the Mercy College men’s baseball team earned a 7-6 victory over the University of Bridgeport in an East Coast Conference doubleheader in Dobbs Ferry.
Bridgeport took the nightcap, 9-3, but senior Billy Dring of Mahopac pitched two innings in relief, allowing just one hit.

Mercy took an early lead when junior centerfielder Nick Papas of Castleton reached first on a bunt, and sophomore shortstop Jeremy Lovera of Carmel later drove in a run with a bases-loaded fielder’s choice groundout.
Coach Bob Greiner’s Mavericks host Felician College at 3 p.m. today, and then open a three-game series at Dowling College on Saturday with a doubleheader at noon. The teams meet again on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Mortarboard musings
- The seventh-ranked Concordia College men’s tennis team hopes to continue its outstanding play when it travels to Florence, SC, for its final three regular-season contests. The Clippers (13-6, 6-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference) meet Lander University today, Wingate University on Friday and Francis Marion College on Saturday.
- Purchase College softball player Alyse LaPadula of New Rochelle was named the Skyline Conference’s Player of the Week. LaPadula led the Panthers to four victories last week as she went 12-15 with 11 RBI and eight runs.
- Monroe-Woodbury alum Colby Lewis of the Rockland Community College golf team is ranked second in the player standings in the Mid-Hudson Conference. The Hawks are also second in the team standings, behind Dutchess CC.
