Join the Arts Council and Piermont illustrator, Betsy Franco Feeney on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. for “Fundraising 101: How to Run a Successful Kickstarter Campaign” -- a "how to" workshop for performing, visual, literary artists and arts organizations on how to raise funds to make your artistic dream project a reality.
You may have heard about the new fund raising platforms on the Internet and wondered whether one may be right for you. Kickstarter.com has been profiled by CNN, “The New York Times” and several other media outlets as a great new way to make art projects happen.

Participants in the workshop will receive insight on how to launch a successful Kickstarter campaign from an artist who recently surpassed her fundraising goal.
The workshop will be held at the Council’s Spring Valley office located at 185 North Main Street.
The workshop is free for members of the Arts Council and $25 for non-members. Space is limited. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 845-426-3660, or e-mailing info@artscouncilofrockland.org or by visiting www.artscouncilofrockland.org.
Dubbed by “Rockland Magazine” as one of its "up and coming celebs" (Nov/Dec 2011), Ms. Feeney will chronicle the steps she took to create and manage her Kickstarter campaign. Everything from the initial application, video creation and reward options for backers will be discussed as well as the importance of being connected to social media.
Betsy recently raised over $12,000 to print and market her latest collaboration with celebrated singer/songwriter Christine Lavin titled "Hole in the Bottom of the Sea". She will cite what aspects of a Kickstarter launch works best as well as reasons why worthy projects may have failed.
This event is co-sponsored with Arts in Orange and made possible, in part, with funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency and with a generous grant from KeyBank.
The Arts Council strives to be a fragrance-free workplace. Attendees are asked to please refrain from wearing perfumes, colognes or other strong scents.
