Miller’s famous play is set in the New England colonies of 1600s, during the Salem Witch hunts and trials. Fears, accusations, paranoia and deception spiraled to hysteric proportions as neighbors accused and testified one against another. The play was written in America in 1952, an era that shared some similar activities and behaviors to that earlier time.
