The RoCA Gala 2010: Through the Looking Glass

Rockland Center for the Arts is having a fundraising benefit on Sunday, Nov. 7, 5 p.m. at the Dellwood Country Club in New City. The 'Alice in Wonderland' themed gala called 'Through the Looking Glass' will feature appearances by Lewis Carroll, Alice, the Mad Hatter, Roger Bart (The Producers, Desperate Housewives), Kevin Kilner (Earth Final Conflict, Joss Whedon's Dollhouse), Didi Conn, and others. The gala is sure to be filled with entertainment, dancing, and a silent auction.

The honorees of the evening are Barbara Kalvert, who chairs the RoCA Board's School Committee. "Her exemplary leadership of RoCA's Arts-in-Education initiative has resulted in the continual expansion of its outreach to new audiences.  As Deputy Director of Cultural Institutions for NYC's Cultural Affairs Department, Barbara worked closely with an array of cultural institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Natural History, the NY Hall of Science and Lincoln Center to create award-winning citywide arts education collaborations.

The second 'Through the Looking Glass' honoree is Grace Knowlton. "Grace is an artist who travels freely through various art forms, methods, and media.  Her work includes photographs, drawings, paintings, and sculpture made from both natural and synthetic materials. She has exhibited in numerous exhibitions, and her work is represented in many public collections including the Smith College Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Newark Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. This spring her work will grace the Catherine Konner Sculpture Park @ RoCA and RoCA's Gallery ONE."
