Farm Alliance, Historical Society Celebrate Common Goals at RCDS Party

Cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and music to support local farms.

The Trustees and Directors of the Rockland Farm Alliance, Rockland Country Day School and The Historical Society of Rockland County hosted an outdoor party in honor of the partnering of each organization as they support local farms.

The part at Rockland Country Day School in Congers featured cocktails, hor d'oeuvres and a variety of musical performances, including by RCDS students.

The school, the Farm Alliance and the Historical Society have moved closed together with the advent of the Farm Alliance's latest project — the Cropsey Community Farm in New City.

The Alliance has leased a portion of the former farm of Jim and Pat Cropsey from Rockland County and the Town of Clarkstown to operate a community-supported farm. The property along Little Tor Road in New City has been preserved by the county and the town as open space. The Cropsey's still live in their family farmhouse on the property as the Farm Alliance operates out of the barn and a smaller farmhouse behind the barn.

The Farm Alliance is always looking for volunteers to help out at Cropsey Community Farm. If you'd like to help, volunteers are welcome to come out and help plant today. The farmers are working until about 12:30 p.m., when they'll take a break for lunch; they'll be back at work form 2:30 to 5 p.m.
