Heat Leads NCLL To Cancel Tournament Game

Skills competition moved to earlier time on Saturday to beat the heat.

Worried for the health of young baseball players as temperatures went above 100 degrees in New City this afternoon, New City Little League canceled the first game in tonight's round of games in its fundraising ARC Tournament.

NCLL President Lon Hoffstein said it was just too hot to risk playing the 5:30 p.m. game set for Zukor Park. However, he said the scheduled 7:45 p.m. game between teams for Nanuet and Nyack-Valley Cottage Little Leagues is set to be played.

The tournament's baseball skills competition, which was set for 11:30 a.m. Saturday, has been moved to 9 a.m. at Zukor park in an attempt to let the players participate before weather conditions get too hot.
