Hudson Valley Lacrosse Team Heads Into Semis At World Police Fire Games
Randall's Island venue also hosting flag football, soccer, rugby and Gaelic football events.
The Hudson Valley Police Fire Lacrosse Club is seeing lots of action in the World Police Fire Games at Randall's Island in New York City.
After their opening round win on Tuesday, the squad went on to stop the FDNY Masters team, 12-4, on Wednesday. Defenseman Kris Eifler of the White Plains FD scored off the opening face off with a coast-to-coast goal. Of the team’s Rockland County members, Chris Keirnan of the Clarkstown PD and Brian Sayre of the NYPD each had a goal, and Joe Donnary and Brian Callinan of the Clarkstown PD each had an assist.
Westchester point leaders were Erik Refvik and Jack Egan of the White Plains FD, with 3 goals and an assist for Refvik and 3 goals and 2 assists for Egan. Steve Trizano and Chris Maloney shared time in goal with 12 and 8 saves each. Patrick McNamara of the Yonkers FD and Matt Mansfield of FDNY rounded out the HVLC scoring with 2 and 1 scores respectively.

The team, however, had a tough loss to the NYPD B team, 7-6. The NYPD team won on a last-second goal. Erik Revik of WPFD was again the leading scorer with 4 goals and 2 assists. Mynor Mazriegoes of the DEA, added two goals along with one by Patrick McNamara of the Yonkers FD. Assists: Craig Tropp NYSC, Matt Mansfield FDNY and Chris Kiernan CPD. Steve Trizano had another outstanding game in goal with 18 saves.
On Thursday, the Hudson Valley team stopped the Toronto Tinmen, 7-6.

Erik Refvik had 4 goals and 1 assist, Chris Kiernan, Jack Egan and Mynor Mazriegoes also scored. The HVLC team was kept in the game on the play of goalie Steve Trizano and the HVLC defense.
Finishing out the day, the HVLC club played a quarterfinal match against the Vancouver Lawmen, taking a 14-6 victory.
Luis Martinez of the Mamaroneck PD returned to add three goals and an assist for the HVLC. Additional scores came from Chris Kiernan with 3 goals and 2 assists, Erik Refvik with 2 goals and 5 assists, Mynor Mazriegoes had 1 goal, Jack Egan has 1 goal and 4 assists, Joe Donnary of CPD had 1 goal and 2 assists, Kris Eifler of WPFD had 1 goal, and Patrick McNamara had 2 goals and 2 assists. The Lawmen Goalie Jordan Delmonico had a strong game with 16 saves. Vancouver Scorers were Matt Block and Jim Greshman with 2 goals apiece and Lance Flintoff and Dan Foster with one apiece. Steve Trizano and Chris Maloney in goal for the HVLC with 8 and 6 saves respectively.
The Hudson Valley team is set to play a semifinal game against Brampton Canada at Randall's Island field 70 at 1 p.m. today.
New City resident John Giordano also helped lead the Port Authority Police Team to a quarterfinal win against the Toronto Tinmen in an A Division quarterfinal game.
