
BROCKTON, Mass. - The Rockland Boulders late comeback against the Brockton Rox fell short Thursday night, as the club dropped game one of the three game series 4-3 in Can-Am League action.
Rockland scored the game’s final three runs, however the late offensive surge was unsuccessful giving Brockton the one-run victory.
The Rox and Boulders were scoreless up until the bottom of the fifth, when Brockton pieced together four runs on four hits off Rockland’s starter Bobby Blevins. The inning was capped off by Chris Valencia’s two-run home run, which now gives him three round trippers on the year.

The Boulders finally broke their drought in the top of seventh, after Mike Richard knocked in a pair with his single to centerfield to cut the deficit in half to 4-2.
Rockland came right back in the top of the ninth with one more run on an RBI single from Ryde Rodriguez, however Rox closer Jake Hale shut the door the preserve Brockton’s 4-3 victory.

Blevins is charged with the loss after throwing eight innings allowing four runs on seven hits. Rox starter Mike Smith picked up the win only allowing two runs on six hits over seven innings of work.
The Boulders (7-10, 26-37) send right-hander John Velasquez to the hill for game two of the three game series today at 7:05 p.m. at Campanelli Stadium.
