NCLL Softball Advances To Eastern Regional Semis

10-win over Delaware gives team another shot at Pennsylvania today.

The state champion New City Little League 11-12 softball team moved into today’s Little League Eastern Regional Tournament semis with a 10-0 victory Wednesday over Delaware in Bristol, CT.

Madison Borenkoff pitched the shut out for New City, which took control of the game right away by scoring five runs in the first inning with 11 players batting. Sarah Herskowitz went 4-for-4 in the game, which was ended after five innings when New City reached the 10-0 advantage.

New City goes into today’s semis with a 2-2 record in the tournament, taking the No. 3 seed. New City is set to play Pennsylvania at 11 a.m., with the winner of this game getting a shot at the Mid-Atlantic finals on Friday.

Five errors

New City scored 10 runs on 15 hits and committed one error. However, five errors hurt the Delaware team, which only had six hits.

Winning pitcher Borenkoff walked just one batter in the game and she struck out six.
