New City Little League Hosts Challenger Players

Countywide program gives children and young people with special needs a chance to enjoy baseball.

New City Little League on Sunday hosted Rokcland County District 18 Challenger Division baseball at Zukor Park in New City.

Designed for children with special needs, District 18 Challenger Little League was formed in 1992 at it travels to all local Little Leagues. Children with special needs, ages 4 to 22 play with “buddies” on the field to help those who need it.

The program is designed to give children with special needs the opportunity to succeed at playing baseball in a program geared to them, where winning is not a concern but making each player feel like a champion is the priority, according to  District 18 Challenger Little League.
