New City Welcomes New Great Clips Hair Salon
Opening brings owner back to his hometown
Michael Bordainick chose New City as the place to open his first Rockland County hair salon because of his ties to the area.
“I grew up only a couple of miles from the salon so I was very familiar with New City,” he said. “When I heard about the Stop and Shop development I thought it would be the perfect location. New City is a great town in Rockland County with a lot of restaurant, shops and entertainment.”
He said the response has been outstanding in the short time the shop has been open. As part of the late September grand opening, Great Clips offers $4.99 haircuts for men, women and children. The special, which runs through October, definitely attracted customers. Bordainick said there were more than 450 customers in the first week.

“Consumers are looking for quality, value, and convenience,” Bordainick said, noting his salon offers all three. “We hire stylists with strong technical skills, we guarantee a great haircut and minimal wait times – or your money back.”
While many local salons close evenings and Sunday, Great Clips will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. No appointments are necessary.

“We want to offer our customers ultimate convenience which means being open when they need us,” said Bordainick, who also owns a Great Clips in Ossining.
He noted the new salon brings more than convenience to price-conscious customers. Great Clips created 10 new jobs and eight of them are stylists. The shop specializes in quality cuts and offers conditioning treatments, styling, and blowouts.
“We hired a outstanding staff with great experience,” Bordainick noted. “Our stylists all come from full service salons with lots of experience.”
Once October ends, Great Clips starts charging $16 for adult haircuts, $12 for kids and senior haircuts. As for plans for the future, Bordainick wants to expand hopes to open more Great Clips locations possibly in other counties.
Great Clips is located in the New City Plaza near Stop & Shop at 180 North Main Street in New City. Great Clips, Inc., headquartered in Minneapolis, Minn., is the world’s largest salon brand. The company began franchising in 1983, and today more than 3,000 Great Clips salons operate in nearly 140 markets across the United States and Canada.
