New City Wins In Little League Eastern Regional Softball Semis
Staves off late rally by Pennsylvania in 6-5 victory.

The state champion New City Little League 11-12 softball team stopped a sixth-inning rally by the Pennsylvania state championship team to win 6-5 in today’s semifinal game in the Little League Eastern Regional Tournament in Bristol, CT.
The victory gives New City a spot in the Mid-Atlantic finals on Friday.
New City controlled the game, scoring twice in the second inning, three times in the fifth inning and once in the sixth inning. Pennsylvania once in the third inning and once again in the fourth inning and put up three runs in the bottom of the sixth, but was shut down by New City.

New City had 6 runs on 10 hits with three errors. Pennsylvania had 5 runs on 10 hits with one error.
Sarah Brauer was the winning pitcher, striking out four and walking two. Reese Guevarra came in late in the game in relief of Brauer.

New City shortstop Melanie Lerche went 3-for-3, scoring 2 runs.
