New City Little League, New City Fire and Police departments and Clarkstown Town officials are meeting today to plan a pep rally on Thursday for the New City Little League before they depart for the Little League World Series. League and fire and police department representatives are gathering this evening with the town supervisor, members of the town board and recreation and parks department officials to organize a send-off for the team at 6:30 p.m. in Zukor Park. League and town officials will discuss a fundraising campaign to help offset the cost of the trip to Portland, OR for the players' families. All expenses of the players and coaches are covered but family members are responsible for paying their own way. The New City Little League will be accepting contributions.  The team earned the title of Eastern Regional Champs on Saturday. The Little League World Series runs from Thursday, August 11 through Wednesday, August 17. The New City All Stars play their first game on August 12 against the Italian team. The team will fly to Oregon early next week.
