Police: 4 Hit With Drug Charges In Nanuet Raid

Cocaine found in two-family home that was the target of a Medicaid fraud probe; 4-year-old child taken by police, turned over to family.

Two men and two women were hit with drug charges this morning after investigators raided a Nanuet home as part of a Medicaid fraud investigation, according to Clarkstown police.

The Clarkstown police anti-crime unit and the Rockland County District Attorney’s Special Investigations Unit went to the two-family home at 47 Fairview Ave. at about 7:45 a.m. to conduct a search. During the investigation they discovered 44 grams of crack cocaine and 6 grams of powder cocaine at the home, police said.

No one was injured in the raid, but a 4-year-old girl was taken from the home and placed in the care of a family member.

Police said they had received complaints about activities at the home and their investigation is continuing.

Three residents of 47 Fairview Ave. were arrested and a fourth person is a Spring Valley resident. All four were being held at Clarkstown Police Headquarters in New City this afternoon awaiting arraignment in Clarkstown Town Court.

Charged are:

— Jermaine Johnson, 28, of 47 Fairview Ave. He is accused of third-degree criminal possession of narcotic drugs with intent to sell; third-degree criminal possession of narcotic drugs; endangering the welfare of a child; and, first-degree offering a false instrument for filing in connection with the fraud investigation.

— Karen Joseph, 22, of 47 Fairview Ave. She is accused of is accused of third-degree criminal possession of narcotic drugs with intent to sell; third-degree criminal possession of narcotic drugs; and, endangering the welfare of a child.

— Wayne Hicks, 21, of 47 Fairview Ave. He is accused of third-degree criminal possession of narcotic drugs with intent to sell and third-degree criminal possession of narcotic drugs.
