Police: Halloween Safety Tips for New City

The Clarkstown Police Department posted Halloween safety advice online.

The Clarkstown Police Department has a few tips to keep everyone safe on Halloween.

The department posted on its Facebook page that you should cross the street at corners, making sure you use traffic signals and crosswalks.

They also said always walk on sidewalks or paths, but if there aren’t any, walk facing traffic as far to the left as possible.

Children under the age of 12 should not be alone at night without adult supervision. If children are mature enough to go out alone, they need to be told to stick to familiar areas that are well lit and to stay in groups.

Other tips address keeping costumes safe, but still creative, and driving safely.
