RCC Student is Finalist to Create Worldwide Organ Donor Foundation

Ramapo- Voting is only open until April 30 for RCC student Roxanne Watson at thisisyourlifechange.com/vote-for-roxanne-watson.

Watson, currently studying Culinary Arts at Rockland Community College, is a heart transplant recipient (2010), and RCC alumna (AA Liberal Arts: Humanities and Social Sciences in 1987), and one of only 50 finalists selected from thousands of entries around the world – and the only one from NY – in this international competition that offers funding and mentoring to help fulfill the dreams of the top 6 contestants.

Roxanne’s dream is to build an international foundation like New York’s Campaign 4 Life and Donate Life NY, the groups she has been dedicated to since recovering from her own transplant surgery. Through her work with these organizations, Roxanne has personally signed-up almost 5,000 potential donors, educating people about the life-saving power they have, and desperately working to share the gift of life and save more lives. She has received numerous awards for her work including the President’s Gold Service Award received from President Obama through L’Oréal’s 2014 Women of Worth contest. Working with New York’s Campaign 4 Life Contest, her efforts have led Rockland County to the top position in the state for number of organ donor sign-ups.
