Rockland County Entrepreneurs Score On Shark Tank With ‘The Snorinator’

The anti-snoring invention secured an investment from two sharks.

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — A Pomona couple appeared on the popular ABC show “Shark Tank” with a new pillow aimed at preventing snoring, and got a hefty investment for their venture.

Lloyd Ecker, and his wife, Sue, pitched “The Snorinator,” a memory foam pillow which keeps a sleeper’s head elevated throughout the night.

The product impressed the judges, and the couple’s company secured a $100,000 investment.

Sharks Lori Greiner and Michael Strahan tested the product on a demo bed, then decided they wanted to invest.

According to Lloyd Ecker, he had been a chronic snorer, which led his wife to kick him out of the bedroom so she could get some sleep.

He tried a variety of products in an effort to stop his snoring, but nothing worked.

During his year of research, he discovered a medical sleeping posture, the High Fowler, dating back to 1888, and he decided to make a special pillow with a special head nest to help himself and others.

Ecker said he hasn’t snored since he started using it.

“The Snorinator has not only solved my snoring problem the last three years, but it also got me back in the bedroom with my wife,” said Lloyd Ecker.

Ecker described the $100,000 financial investment from Greiner and Strahan as a major win for the couple’s startup, and he hopes “The Snorinator” will become a major player in the sleep market. Lloyd and Sue Ecker are co-founders of the pillow company Snorinator Enterprises LLC.

The investment brings both capital and strategic guidance to the brand for its expansion plans.

“Appearing on Shark Tank gave us the opportunity to connect with millions of people who are tired of their morning sore throats, their side-sleeping shoulder pain, and who are just plain tired of being tired and ready to actually do something about it,” Lloyd Ecker said.

Greiner noted the products that sell best are the ones that solve a big problem.

“Snoring is a huge problem,” she said.

According to Yale Medicine, about 90 million Americans report snoring “at one time or another.”

Strahan, after testing it, said he thought it was “very comfortable.”

“Usually, for someone who would buy this, it wouldn’t be the person snoring. I would market it towards the person that has to sleep with the person snoring,” Strahan said.
