Rockland Sheriff's Office To Christen New Hudson River Patrol Boat
It will be named after a longtime commander of the Sheriff Marine Unit.

The formal christening of the newest patrol vessel for the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office will take place Oct. 16. The 31 foot “Lake Assault” vessel will be named after Captain Matthew J. McCune, who died in 2016. Captain McCune was a long time commander of the Sheriff Marine Unit.
The event is at 11 a.m. at Haverstraw Bay Park, 21 Gagan Road, Haverstraw NY.
Funding for the new patrol boat came from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, a component of the Department of Homeland Security. The funding came through the Port Securities Grant Program. Among the duties of the officers patrolling on this vessel will be to protect the new Tappan Zee Bridge as well as other surrounding vulnerable targets, officials said.
