UPDATE: 1 Dead in 1-Car Crash on Route 59
Expect traffic delays as the accident investigation continues.
UPDATE 3:45PM: A Central Nyack man has died after a lunchtime car crash on Route 59 in West Nyack.
The Clarkstown Police Department was called to the one-car motor vehicle accident on Route 59 and Larch Court at 12:35 p.m.
The vehicle, a 2004 Hummer, appeared to have lost control, leaving the roadway and striking a snow bank, police said.

There were two occupants—both were taken to Nyack Hospital.
The driver of the vehicle, a 56-year-old man, died at the hospital, police said. The passenger of the vehicle, a 55-year-old Central Nyack woman, was treated for minor injuries. Police did not release the names pending notification of the next-of-kin.

The Clarkstown Police Accident Investigation Team is on the scene processing and conducting an investigation.
The cause of the accident is unknown at this time but the investigators are looking into the possibility of a medical condition, suffered by the driver, initiating the accident.
Route 59 has one lane open to traffic eastbound from the Palisades Parkway interchange to Crosfield Avenue. Expect traffic delays in the area.

Original report: At approximately 12:35 PM the Clarkstown Police Department responded to a one car accident on Route 59 and Larch Court in West Nyack. One person was removed from the scene to Nyack Hospital.
Rt. 59 has one lane open to traffic eastbound from the Palisades Parkway interchange to Crosfield Avenue. The other two lanes are closed.
