
BROCKTON, Mass. – The Brockton Rox defeated the Rockland Boulders 9-2 to sweep the four game series on Sunday evening in Can-Am League baseball action.
The Rox scored eight runs in the first thee innings of the contest, and did not look back only holding the Boulders offense to two runs on five hits.
Brockton scored three in the home half of the first off Rockland’s starter Will Hassett, who had his worst outing in a Boulders’ uniform only lasting 2 2/3 innings. Trey Hernandez capped off the frame with a two RBI single to right field to score Keith Brachold and Chris Grossman.

Norm Hutchins got the Boulders on the board after hitting his fifth home run of the season cutting the score to 3-1 in the top of second, however the Rox answered for five in the bottom of the third.
The Rox put together five runs on three hits - chasing Hassett from the game – which was highlighted by a two-run blast from Chris Valencia, putting Brockton up 8-1.

Julian Sampson earned the win in Brockton’s 9-2 victory, throwing seven innings and only allowing one run on two hits.
Rockland sent five other pitchers to the bump after Hassett, who took the loss giving up eight earned runs on seven hits.
Rockland (7-13, 26-40) gets day on today, returning home to Provident Bank Park in Pomona to host the Newark Bears on Tuesday night for the start of a three game series.
