Snow Squalls Possible, Bitter Cold Certain: New City's Weekend Weather
Get details of the arctic front moving in on Clarkstown.

NEW CITY, NY — Those high winds presaged a return to winter this weekend, ushered in with isolated snow showers Friday and settling in with bitter cold for Saturday and Sunday.
"That NW wind has brought us much colder temperatures, actually 5 to 10 degrees BELOW average," said Bill Potter from Hudson Valley Weather, who titled this morning's entry 'Winter's Revenge.' "In addition to the cold, a secondary front will swing through this afternoon… and along the boundary, a squall line could develop. That squall line… could bring… wait for it…. snow."
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester:

Snow showers and localized snow squalls are expected this afternoon into early this evening. Winds gusts to 40 mph, brief heavy snowfall, poor visibilities and localized accumulations of up to near an inch are possible with any snow squalls. Any areas that experience heavier snow showers or snow squalls will also have potential to experience flash freeze conditions, as temperatures rapidly drop below freezing behind the arctic frontal passage late in the day to early this evening.
Temps are about normal Friday for early February, not that we would recall that from this past February. But then it's going to get even colder.
