St. Paul's CYO 5th Grade Girls Receive Certificates for Perfect Basketball Season
Girls honored for winning county and state championships plus two undefeated seasons.
Young athletes were praised for their success at both the county and state levels Tuesday evening. The fifth grade girl’s basketball team was honored at the Rockland County office building in New City. The team has gone undefeated in the past two seasons, a combined record of 55-0.
The girls were both county and state champions. According to them, their most difficult feat was the county game. The girls and Coach Mike Conti agreed that the game against St. Greg’s in Garnerville was the toughest. However, the girls pulled it out in the end after being down by four points at the end of the first half.
District 11 County Legislator Frank Sparaco (R-Valley Cottage) presented the girls with their certificates. Other officials were in attendance including District 10 Legislator Harriet Cornell and District 9 Legislator Gerold Bierker. Families took pictures of their kids with the legislators and coaches. Everyone in the room was pleased with the team’s grand accomplishment.
