Storm Leaving The Hudson Valley With Power Outages

The coastal flood warning and winter weather advisories are still in effect.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The wild winter storm now leaving the region brought gusty winds as well as wet snow, sleet and rain to the region — and scattered power outages as well.

A spokesman for Orange & Rockland Utilities said crews worked through the night as about 2,465 customers had their power interrupted since 7 p.m. Sunday.

  • Con Ed: 2,902 customers out in Westchester, mostly in the southern half of the county.
  • NYSEG: 126 customers out in Dutchess, 102 in Ulster
  • CenHud: 391 customers out, 280 of them in Dutchess and 99 in Ulster.
  • O&R: 313 customers out in Rockland, 82 in Orange County, estimated restoration by early afternoon.

The coastal flood warning is in effect for the Sound Shore communities of Westchester until 1 p.m. where breaking waves of 4-7 feet are possible.

Winter weather advisories are in effect until 10 a.m. in Rockland and northern Westchester and noon in Dutchess, Orange, Putnam and Ulster.

Westchester County reported the parkways open and plowed. Bee-Line buses are using the Saturday schedule and running pretty much on time.

Road conditions could be icy Monday morning, said the National Weather Service. Even though air temperatures have risen into the mid to upper 30s, ground temperatures will be slow to rise above freezing until after daybreak.

Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
