Teen Charged In Spring Valley Slashing: PD

A male victim suffered a severe laceration to his right arm and significant blood loss, according to police.

SPRING VALLEY, NY — An 18-year-old Ramapo man is accused of slashing and seriously injuring another man with a broken glass bottle on South Main Street last week.

Detective Sgt. Randy DiPaolo said police have charged Bartolome Garcia-Perez, 18, with second-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and false personation.

The charges stem from an attack on Thursday, July 9 around 4:59 a.m.

According to police, they received a report of a male victim bleeding in the vicinity of 29 South Main St. Responding officers found the victim suffering from a severe laceration to his right arm and significant blood loss.

Police rendered life-saving aid by applying a tourniquet to the victim's injured arm until emergency medical personnel arrived, according to DiPaolo. The victim was taken to Montefiore Nyack Hospital.

An investigation determined the victim had been assaulted by a man using a broken glass bottle, police said. Police did not comment on the suspected motive.

Garcia-Perez was arraigned in the Village of Spring Valley Justice Court, then remanded to the Rockland County Jail pending further court proceedings.
