It’s been a long and exciting day for the girls and the families.  Here are a few pictures from our trip with more to follow.  We arrived at 4:30 p.m. pacific time and the girls went to the field for team pictures and uniform fittings and they got to meet teams from all over the world.

Another team parent shared details of the day.

The girls all traveled by van to JFK with bagels on the bus. They traveled for nine hours, connecting in Arizona to Portland. Pilots announced that the team was heading to the Little League World Series and everyone cheered.

When they got to the hotel, University Place, located at Portland State University, they checked in and headed by shuttle to Alpenrose Field where they got fitted for uniforms and treated to free equipment. They got new bats, batting gloves, helmets, catcher's equipment - all in bright green to match their new uniforms. It was Xmas in Oregon for the girls!!

The girls had dinner with lots of players. The big disappointment with dinner was that they put mustard on all the sandwiches! They tried speaking Spanish to the girls from Puerto Rico and met the girls from Philippines, too.

The 11-12 Softball , coaches and some of the expected 35 family members arrived in Portland, OR on Tuesday for the Little League World Series. The series begins Thursday and the New City Little League  team plays its first game on Friday.
