UPDATE: Watermain Break Repaired, Services, Lanes Reopened

After a water main break, bathrooms and food services were stopped at the Thruway stop.

UPDATE: New York State Thruway officials report services have been restored at the Sloatsburg Service Area. Bathrooms had been closed, and no food service was available due to a water main break Tuesday morning.

At 11 p.m. the Ramapo Police Department reported all lanes on Route 17 through The Village of Sloatsburg have been reopened.


Ramapo police reported at 9 a.m. that Route 17 in Sloatsburg is closed in both directions until further notice due to a water main break. Traffic is being diverted.

Significant delays are expected. Motorists are urged to use alternate routes.

New York State Thruway officials warned that bathrooms and food service is not available because the Sloatsburg Service Area, located between exits 15A and 16, is without water.

The next restrooms or restaurant services on the Thruway are located at the Plattekill Service Area, milepost 65, between exit 17, Newburgh and exit 18, New Paltz. Fuel services are still available. 09:05:23AM 9/19/17
