The WCFR 10+2 Anniversary and Fundraising Gala will be held on September 29th, 2023 from 7-11:30Pm at the Nyack Seaport.

Nyack, N.Y. (August 23, 2023) – Join Worldwide Community First Responder, Inc. on Friday, September 29th, 2023 for their Twelfth Anniversary and Fundraising Gala. The gala will bring together like-minded individuals and businesses who share the same belief that education and training can help save lives, while celebrating the organization's accomplishments and honoring their lifesaving partners. The event, from 7-11:30Pm, will be held on Friday, September 29th, 2023 at The Nyack Seaport. Attendees can expect a cocktail hour, live entertainment, and dinner.
Worldwide Community First Responder, Inc. proudly announces one of Twelfth Anniversary and Fundraising Gala Lifesaving Partner Honorees: Cheryl Baun. WCFR is grateful for Cheryl Baun. She has supported us by increasing awareness of our mission "to prevent deaths worldwide through education and training", fundraising for us, and sponsoring our events and activities.
Cheryl Baun (she/her/hers) is co-owner of Karenderya, along with her husband, Chef Paolo Garcia Mendoza. She has always been passionate about learning about, talking about, and of course, eating food. Having spent almost a decade volunteering for various Filipino community organizations, she is thrilled to have the opportunity to raise awareness about Filipino culture in Rockland County through food.

Most of Cheryl’s career has been in the non-profit sector. She worked for a range of organizations and causes, including the National Hemophilia Foundation and the Asian & Pacific Islander Coalition for HIV/AIDS (APICHA). Most recently, she served as the executive director of the Arts Council of Rockland. Cheryl has served on several non-profit boards, including her current position on the Rockland Business Women’s Network Board of Directors. After 20+ years in the non-profit sector, Cheryl recently made a shift to the government sector and now works in the Rockland County Department of Economic Development & Tourism.
Cheryl is a graduate of Vassar College and received a Masters in Urban Planning from the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service at New York University. She also completed the Entrepreneurial Training Program at the Women’s Enterprise Development Center. In 2022, she was honored as Service Woman of the Year from the Rockland Business Women’s Network, as well one of the Nyack Center’s Women of Leadership and Vision.

Worldwide Community First Responder, Inc. was founded in September 2011 with a mission "to prevent deaths worldwide through education and training". Their programs have proven to empower individuals in their own community and save lives. WCFR has educated and trained over 400,000 people worldwide. All funds raised at the gala will support their programs that save lives.
