Around 12:50 a.m., on August 11, troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on I-87 north at mile post marker 21.7, north of Exit 12 in Clarkstown.

An initial investigation found that a 2009 Nissan was disabled, partially in the lane of travel and on the right shoulder of I-87 for unknown reasons, with all lights off. A 2014 Ford had been traveling north on I-87 in the same lane when it rear-ended the Nissan, causing both vehicles to spin out across all lanes of travel and strike the median on the left shoulder.

Redner, the driver of the Nissan, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Peralta, who had been driving the Ford, received life-saving measures from EMS at the scene before being rushed to Westchester Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

State police investigators say that Peralta had been speeding and intoxicated with a blood alcohol concentration of .12 percent when his Ford struck Redner's vehicle.

Peralta was arrested and processed at State Police Tarrytown, where he was charged with felony second-degree vehicular manslaughter; felony second-degree manslaughter (recklessly cause death); misdemeanor driving while intoxicated; and several uniform traffic tickets.

He was arraigned at Clarkstown Town Court and released on his own recognizance. Peralta is due back in court on May 21.
