Cops: Man Threatened to Blow Up Third Precinct in Williston Park

A Staten Island man called Nassau County Police’s Third Precinct in Williston Park, and threatened to kill everyone inside it with a bomb Wednesday afternoon, officials said on Saturday.

Nassau Police say John Hardy, 52, of Water St., called the Third Precinct at 214 Hillside Ave. on 2:49 p.m., claiming to be a terrorist. He threatened to kill everyone by placing a bomb in the precinct. A short time later, Hardy called the Nassau County Police Department Communication Emergency Call Center and stated he had left a bag containing dynamite inside the doorway of the Third Precinct. The building was searched, but police found no explosives.

Third Squad detectives and Bureau of Special Operations police officers located and arrested Hardy on Saturday in Staten Island.

Hardy is charged with making a terroristic threat and second-degree aggravated harassment, police said.

Hardy is to be arraigned on Sunday in First District Court, Hempstead.
