Free Child Safety Seat Check in Mineola Set for Oct. 18

Make sure your children's are car seats properly installed and secured.

Learn how to install a car seat properly at the free child safety seat check on Saturday, Oct. 18 in Mineola from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Wilson Park, 185 Westbury Avenue in Mineola).

Officials from the Nassau County Traffic Safety Board will perform free safety seat inspections to make sure that drivers have their children’s car seats properly installed and secured. Child safety seats can reduce the threat of injury or death by as much as 65 percent, but only if they are installed properly, according to the Nassau County
Traffic Safety Board. The Nassau County Traffic Safety Board also estimates that as many as 90 percent of these seats are improperly installed.

New York State Law requires all children under age 8 are restrained in an appropriate child safety seat while riding in a motor vehicle.

Appointments for free child safety seat checks will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis. To schedule an appointment, please call the office of Sen. Jack Martins, who is sponsoring the event, at 516-746-5924.
