Man Charged in Stewart Manor, Elmont Robberies
The robberies occurred Tuesday night and Thursday morning, police said.

A Queens man arrested for robbing a man in Stewart Manor on Thursday was subsequently identified as the suspect wanted for robbing an 18-year-old in Elmont on Tuesday, police said.
According to authorities, a 39-year-old man was approached by another man armed with a handgun on Tulip Avenue in Stewart Manor at 12:08 a.m. The robber demanded money and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Officers later reportedly saw James Caffrey, 22, of Bayside, walking northbound on Covert Avenue. Caffrey was placed under arrested after he was identified as the suspect from the robbery, police said.

A pellet gun was recovered following his arrest, police said.
Caffrey was then identified as the person allegedly responsible for an Elmont robbery that occurred Tuesday at 9:30 p.m.

According to authorities, an 18-year-old who left work at Key Food supermarket, located at 151 Covert Ave. in Elmont, was walking westbound on Tulip Avenue when he was approached by Caffrey who verbally demanded money while saying “I’ll shoot you. I just got out of jail.”
The young man handed over the money when he saw what appeared to be a handgun in Caffrey’s waistband, police said.
Caffrey they fled southbound on Landau Avenue with an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries were reported.
Caffrey is charged with two counts second degree robbery. He was arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
