Man Grabbed Teen, Pushed Her to Ground in New Hyde Park

The man shook the 16-year-old and said "come here," police say.

Police are looking to identify a man who approached 16-year-old girl from behind and pushed her to the ground Sunday afternoon in North New Hyde Park, police say.

According to authorities, the girl was walking southbound on New Hyde Park Road near the Lake Success Shopping Center when an unknown man grabbed her and spun her around at 2:50 p.m.

Police say the man pushed her to the ground, grabbed her by the sweatshirt, lifted her off the ground and began to shake her while stating “come here.” His intentions weren’t completely clear, police say.

The teen was unable to escape the man’s grasp and screamed for help, police say. A woman who observed the incident came to the girl’s aid, causing the man to run northbound on New Hyde Park Road.

The girl suffered minor scratches on her arm but refused medical attention.

Police described the man as black, 30 to 40 years old, 6 feet tall with a stocky build, and wearing a black hoodie that had a paint-splattered design with the hood up covering most of his face and light colored blue jeans.
