New Hyde Park Student Named Business Pitch Finalist
Rachel Sayson selected as a finalist in the Second Annual Long Island Young Entrepreneur Challenge (LI YEC).

Rachel Sayson of New Hyde Park has been selected as a finalist in the Second Annual Long Island Young Entrepreneur Challenge (LI YEC). As a finalist, Sayson will present a live business pitch to a panel of esteemed judges on May 9th at Capital One Bank offices in Melville.
Sayson presented her business plan for a website that would help students identify ideal study locations in specific regions. The site also creates the opportunity for small businesses and town attractions to appeal to a new customer base, by offering a free online presence with direct exposure to this niche student audience.
“The challenge gets you to think more in detail about what you want to do with your business not just a broad idea, but the specifics to present to people,” Sayson said of her preparation for the experience. “The process is teaching me a lot because Im doing research. It helps you understand what you really want to do.”
The LI YEC is a business pitch competition, engaging entrepreneurs, ages 17-22, who either live on Long Island or are enrolled as an undergraduate student at an accredited Long Island college or university. It is funded through a partnership between FrontStreet and Capital One Bank, finalists compete for a chance to win $10,000 start-up funding, mentorship from a Capital One Bank executive, and other support essential to establishing a business.
