Officials: Report Grafitti

Those creating graffiti are liable for the cost of its removal, according to the Town of North Hempstead.

If you see graffiti in North Hempstead, report it. That’s the message from town officials, who ask residents to contact the Town’s 311 Call Center to report any incident of graffiti.

“Reporting graffiti to 311 will enable members from the town’s public safety department to deal appropriately with the matter,” Supervisor Judi Bosworth said. “This in turn, will allow the town to follow up with each case individually and issue the necessary notice of violations and.”

According to the town code, those creating graffiti are liable for the cost of its removal. In addition, it is the responsibility of the owner or person occupying the residence to remove or cover graffiti even if that person was not responsible for creating the graffiti.
