Police: Man Stole Wallets From Gym Lockers, Spent $5K at Apple Store in NHP

The man removed wallets containing cash and credit cards from locked lockers at LA Fitness, police said.

A Queens man who removed wallets from a New Hyde Park gym locker room on three occasions and went on to spend nearly $5,000 at a computer store with the stolen credit cards was arrested Friday, police said.

According to authorities, Aziz Danish, 29, of Flushing, entered the men’s locker room at LA Fitness, located at 1111 Marcus Ave., and stole wallets containing cash and credit cards from locked lockers on Aug. 27, Aug. 29 and Sept. 29.

Danish then went to the Apple Store, located 630 Old Country Road, on the same dates and used the stolen credit cards to make purchases in excess of $4,900, police said.

An investigation of these thefts led to the arrest of Danish on Hempstead Avenue in Queens Village. Danish, who is not a member of LA Fitness, was found to be in possession of marijuana at his arrest.

He was charged with three counts of third degree burglary, three counts of second degree forgery, three counts of first degree identity theft, three counts of first degree falsifying business records, first degree defraud and third degree identity theft.

He will be arraigned Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.
