The Art League of Nassau County has welcomed several professional artists this spring who demonstrated their art techniques. It welcomed David Beynon Pena in March where he demonstrated an oil portrait painting of the raffle winner. In April, Irene Vitale demonstrated a seascape. Patty Mollica gave a workshop for the ALNC.
David Pena demonstrated his technique and included information about supplies he uses and recommended several books. He studied under Everett Raymond Kinstler, NA, AWS (b. 1926), "one of the nation's foremost portrait artists" and assisted Will Barnet (1911-2012), a national printmaker known for his serigraphs, lithography and wood block printing. Currently, Pena is an artist with Portraits, Inc.

Irene Vitale has a different approach with her art, tending to be more loose and impressionistic with her seascapes than Pena. She demonstrated how to use oil sticks in combination with standard paints with a summer ocean scene. Vitale is a faculty member of the Art League of Long Island. In addition, Vitale has solo and group exhibitions and her paintings can be found in private and corporate collections across the country. For more information, please go to IreneVitaleFineArt.com.
