Red Mango Opens in New Hyde Park

It's a new health craze, it's a delicious treat, it's cold and sweet and all you can eat.

On Dec. 22, 2011, Red Mango opened their doors for business at their new location in the Lake Success Shopping Center, replacing O.K. Kids.

At Red Mango, people of all ages can enjoy a sweet treat. They have become famous for their frozen yogurt, smoothies and parfaits, which are non-fat and made from all natural ingredients. These items are a healthier option for a snack or dessert.

This specific location is different from many other Red Mango stores. “We’re self serve which is a new thing for Red Mango,” said employee, Tracey Dolan.

Customers fill their own cups with their favorite yogurt. A variety of flavors are featured, among them are pomegranate and coconut, their most popular. Then they can choose from over 30 different toppings to add themselves, from granola and almonds to graham cracker and gummy bears. A variety of fresh fruit, such as strawberries, oranges, pineapple, and blueberries are available and served fresh daily.

“I love the vanilla yogurt with raspberries and chocolate chips,” said New Hyde Park resident, Amanda Valente. “I can eat it and still feel healthy.”

Prices range anywhere from $1 to $10 depending on how much yogurt you want and how many toppings you choose. After you create your sundae, your cup is weighed, and each ounce is .49 cents.

“Business has been really good so far,” said Dolan. “Considering it’s winter, people are still coming in, and the location is great because people are always shopping around here.”

If you visit Red Mango frequently, you can become a Club Mango member. This is a loyalty program that awards you points for each purchase at any of the stores. These points can later be redeemed for coupons.

Red Mango is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
