Bhavna Mathews RN, operating room nurse at Long Island Jewish North Shore University Hospital and her husband Abe Mathews, CPO who works at Progressive Orthotics & Prosthetics in Albertson, tagged teamed to create an educational career outing for the local Webelos II pac 201. Bhavna gave an idea of the procedures of the operating room, and tools and techniques used during surgery. Afterwards Abe, prosthetics and pediatric orthotics specialist, arranged for a prosthetics patient model to demonstrate his running leg. Technician Kevin McIntyre, showed the children how a diagnostics prosthetic socket is created. Bhavna and Abe Mathews live with their children in New Hyde Park.
