New Rochelle Resident Mitchell Ostrove Secures Grant for UJA-Federation’s Ongoing Work in Hurricane Sandy Relief

Mitchell W. Ostrove, CLU, ChFC, of New Rochelle secured a $10,000 grant on behalf of UJA-Federation of New York from the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) and the MDRT Foundation. The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Million Dollar Round Table, an independent association of nearly 38,000 life insurance and financial services professionals.
UJA-Federation received the grant for its immediate and continuing relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
“Doing good for the community is at the foundation of both MDRTF and UJA-Federation’s missions,” says Ostrove, who serves as a chair of UJA-Federation’s Westchester Business and Professional Division and is a life and qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table, serving as president of the Foundation for its 2002-2003 term. “To be able to connect these two organizations in their shared pursuit is a wonderful thing.”

UJA-Federation has been at the forefront of relief since Hurricane Sandy hit. To date, more than $14 million has been allocated to provide help to those most devastated by the storm. UJA-Federation — together with its network of agencies and local synagogues — quickly stepped forward and mobilized thousands of professionals and volunteers to care for the people and communities who bore the brunt of the storm.
Ostrove has a long history of involvement in the community. A past chair of the Men’s Division of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, he is a trustee of Temple Israel of New Rochelle, and sits on the board of directors of the New Rochelle Police Foundation, Hillels of Westchester, and the Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center. He is also a commissioner of the New Rochelle Youth Bureau.
