Another 'Coastal Flood Advisory' Issued along Long Island Sound
Potentially affected communities in Westchester include Port Chester, Rye, Mamaroneck, Larchmont, New Rochelle and Pelham.

It looks like the region will be spared the brunt of Hurricane Joaquin, but rains, winds and high tides could cause some local flooding in Southern Westchester County.
The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for Westchester communities along Long Island Sound until 5 p.m. today, Oct. 3.
Potentially affected communities in Westchester include Port Chester, Rye, Mamaroneck, Larchmont, New Rochelle and Pelham.

“A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore,” the NWS writes. Tidal departures could reach two feet above astronomical tide levels.
As for Joaquin, it as strengthened to near Category 5 level as it moves north in the Atlantic Ocean.

While the powerful hurricane is tracking away from the coast, indirect impacts will still threaten lives and property in parts of the eastern United States into Monday.
Seas and tide levels will remain high from the Carolinas to Massachusetts into Monday. East to northeast gusts may frequently reach 40 mph.
People in the eastern United States should not let their guard down due to a shifting track of the hurricane, meteorologists warned.
